ITINERARY
Our tour starts at Japan Square (Batel) or we pick you up at your hotel (central region hotels).
We board the BR-277 towards the coast. We will arrive at the entrance to the Anhaia road, which is on the banks of the BR, and disembark and begin our bike ride, going down the mountain through the middle of the Atlantic Forest, and reaching a flatter section of the road. We will be accompanied from Rio to Morretes by a dirt road.
We arrive at the downtown area of Morretes, known for its architecture and traditional cuisine. In Morretes, our Support Car will take those who don’t want to cycle up Graciosa (intermediate level). Those who continue on the pedal continue pedaling towards Graciosa Road, where they will ride up (advanced level).
We all meet at the top of the mountain for hydration and for anyone who wants to eat something.
After climbing the Serra along Graciosa Road, we will take the preserved stretch of the old road passing by the famous stone house, and head to Portal da Graciosa, to enter the Caminho dos Jesuítas (Jesuits Path) nearby.
The Jesuits Path had been used for thousands of years by indigenous people from the Curitiba region, who went down to the coast in winter in search of food. The first historical reference dates back to 1570, when miners went up to Serra da Graciosa in search of gold on the outskirts of Curitiba. We will pass along the original stretches of the path, still made of stones.
We finish the Jesuits Path on the Old Graciosa road, where we will embark on the return to Curitiba.
On weekends and holidays, there is the possibility of including lunch (R$ 54.00 per person) at Chácara Santa Genoveva Restaurant, a restaurant located in Piraquara, where a delicious all-you-can-eat buffet is served with pork shank and crackling, pasta, and barbecued lamb and rump, in addition to dessert. Drinks at an extra cost.
The route, if completed by bike, has an elevation of 1305m and a total of 65km covered. It will take approximately 6h30min, counting time in movement and stops for rehydration and for snacks.
For those who choose not to ascent Graciosa Road, the path will be 48 km and a positive altitude of approximately 650 m.
The return to Curitiba will take place around 5 pm on weekends and holidays, on weekdays we return shortly after the end of the ride, around 2:30 pm.
If the weather forecast for the tour is not good, it’ll be postponed to a date to be defined in agreement with most of the participants. If someone is unable to participate on the new date, we will refund the full amount paid.
